Before you set off

Frequently asked

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often before a tour.

What happens if it rains?

Edinburgh weather is part of the magic, completely unpredictable. We walk in light rain. We only cancel for extreme conditions, in which case we give you as much notice as possible and issue a full refund or reschedule. If we cancelled tours every time it rained, our whole team would be out of a job.

Where do we meet?

Each tour's exact meeting point is published on its own tour page, so you can check the start point before you book, and it's repeated in your confirmation email. They differ because every route is adapted to its own tour.

Are tours suitable for children?

Yes, on most of our tours. Under-12s go free but still need a reserved spot in the group, and ages 12–18 pay the concession price. The Filmmaker masterclass isn't suitable for young children.

What languages can I take the tour in?

Every public tour runs in both English and Spanish, led by local guides. Select your preferred language when booking; a separate group departs for each language.

Are the tours accessible for wheelchairs and prams?

Most of our routes cross cobblestones, steep closes and stairs, so wheelchair and pram access is limited. Get in touch before booking and we'll adapt the route wherever possible.

Cancellations & refunds

We want every experience to run smoothly — for guests and guides alike.

FREE TOURS

Cancel any time. Just let us know as early as you can. On our end, we'll only cancel a free tour for extreme weather or exceptional circumstances, with as much notice as possible.

Pre-Paid Tours

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour, full refund. Within 24 hours or a no-show, no refund. We only cancel a booked tour for extreme weather or exceptional circumstances, with as much notice as possible.

Private Experiences

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time, deposit refunded in full. Within 24 hours or a no-show, the deposit is forfeited. Same on our side — extreme weather or exceptional circumstances only, with as much notice as possible.
